About the Authors

The Maverick Take is the brainchild of four college freshmen who have a common interest for writing. Read on as the authors introduce each other and watch out for their posts.

Aditya Raste is a student of Electronics and Communication at BITS Pilani. He is also an International Rated Chess player.

He's a gaming aficionado, plays FIFA and a variety of strategy games. The die-hard football fan's favourite clubs are Chelsea and Bayern Munich; both equally admired by him. A keen follower of World Politics and Economics, Aditya calls himself a free thinker.

Aditya has an effortless command on the English language, which will make his articles a delight to read and ponder over.

Niranjan Thakurdesai has a lengthy name, and an even extensive vocabulary.

A mechanical engineering student at IIT Bombay, Niranjan has been reading and writing for a while now. He’s also interested in physics and has a deep understanding of topics beyond the scope of the curriculum. He’s also a music buff, immensely skilled at the synthesizer and the guitar. He is always ready, with an open mind, to read more, learn more, and understand more about things that intrigue him.

Reading his pieces would be a treat to your intellect, as you’ll encounter new words in each paragraph. And he is not just about these big words; his opinion on issues ranging from the ceasefire violation to the Lokpal bill is balanced, informed and carefully put.

Each article by Niranjan would be an interesting read (including the bio he would write for me). You, dear reader, can expect nothing short of Pulitzer quality writing from him.

Prasanna Rao is a professional chess player and an avid reader. He follows the sports of Tennis, Football and Chess closely. He admires the grandmasters Aronian, Ivanchuk, and our very own Vishwanathan Anand. He has had the honour of playing with Vishy Anand himself in a game. The book "Open" by Tennis champion Andre Agassi is close to his heart.

Prasanna is interested in Economics and is fascinated by technology. Currently studying at SRM University in Tamil Nadu, he hails from Mumbai.

Being a chess player, Prasanna has a calculated take on things, which would reflect in his write-ups.

Pranav Kamat, one of my oldest friends and also a former schoolmate, has the distinction of being the only author among us 5 to be studying abroad, in the The University of Toledo, Ohio, where he's majoring in Mechanical engineering and minoring in Renewable energy. A proverbial 'Rancho',  his hobbies are, in his own words, 'everything from collecting action figures to building robot arms'. He also indulges in table tennis and rock climbing. Pranav's simplistic yet incisive writing style make his articles a treat to read and also give the reader plenty to reflect on. Also his frankness in his expression and honesty in what he writes, makes him a truly unique writer.
